Here's what I tell every client before they walk out the door at SASS SRQ.
The dye bonds to your brow hairs while it processes, but that bond is still fragile right after your appointment. For the first 24 hours, keep your brows dry and clean. No washing your face over the brow area, no steam rooms, no sweaty workouts, no swimming.
When you do cleanse, avoid rubbing directly across the brows. Pat the skin dry instead of wiping.
Also skip oil-based products near the brows for the first day. Oils can break down the tint before it has fully set. If you use a serum or moisturizer with a high oil content, apply it carefully around the brow area.
Beyond the first 24 hours, a few habits will extend how long your color stays rich.
This varies depending on your skin type, how oily your skin is, and how you care for the area. For most clients, brow tint lasts anywhere from two to six weeks. Oilier skin tends to fade faster. If you swim regularly or spend a lot of time in the sun, expect the shorter end of that range.
Consistent aftercare makes a real difference. Clients who keep oils and exfoliants away from the brow area routinely get more weeks out of their color than those who don't.
Not for the first 24 hours. Water can dilute the tint before it fully sets. After that window, gentle cleansing is fine. Just avoid soaking, steaming, or scrubbing the area.
Yes, after the first 24 hours. Use a light hand and remove makeup gently. Avoid oil-based removers directly on the brow hairs, as they can strip the color faster.
Brow tint applied correctly by a trained aesthetician is gentle on the hair. If your brows are already dry or brittle, mention that before your appointment so we can factor it into the plan.
A few things can shorten the life of your color: very oily skin, active exfoliants in your skincare routine, swimming, or contact with water too soon after the appointment. If it fades consistently fast, it's worth talking through your routine so we can adjust.
Wait at least 48 hours. Waxing right after a tint can lift the color and irritate skin that's still sensitive from the service. I usually recommend getting your shaping done before the tint, not after, so the brows look clean right away.
Most clients with sensitive skin do fine with brow tinting, but it depends on the specific sensitivities. If you've had reactions to hair dye or tinting products before, mention that before booking so we can talk through your options honestly.
Brow tint aftercare isn't just about protecting your investment. It's about getting the result you actually came in for. The service takes a few minutes. The aftercare keeps that result working for weeks.
The tint does its job in the chair. Your job is the aftercare. Keep it simple, follow the 24-hour rule, stay away from the things that strip color, and your brows will hold.
If you have questions after your appointment or want to book a tint, call us at (941) 354-9099. I'm happy to talk through what to expect, especially if this is your first time.

Lynn is the founder and lead aesthetician at SASS SRQ Sarasota. Her approach: she listens before she recommends anything, and she'll tell you if something isn't worth your money.
Lynn has worked in aesthetics for over ten years and opened SASS SRQ downtown so clients could get focused, one-on-one skin care without the upsell pressure of a big salon.
She's trained in microneedling, chemical peels, and advanced waxing techniques, and she takes the time to explain what she's doing and why it fits your skin.
Before recommending anything, Lynn asks about your skin history, lifestyle, and what's bothering you most - then builds from there.
