If you deal with breakouts, rough texture, or congested pores across your back and shoulders, you're not alone. The skin there has a high density of oil glands, and because it's covered most of the day, sweat and buildup have nowhere to go. A facial targets exactly that.
The treatment follows a similar sequence to a face facial, adapted for the larger surface area and typically thicker skin on your back.
The whole session typically runs under an hour, depending on how much congestion needs to be addressed.
This treatment is a good fit if you're dealing with any of the following.
Living here in Sarasota, I see this a lot. Heat and humidity mean more sweat, more oil production, and more skin congestion all year, not just in summer. Men who are active outdoors are especially prone to buildup that a standard shower just can't clear.
A few things make the treatment more effective and more comfortable.
Come in with clean skin if you can. Avoid applying heavy body lotion or oil to your back the morning of your appointment. If you work out, shower first.
Don't shave your back the day of the treatment. Freshly shaved skin is more sensitive, and exfoliation on top of that can cause irritation. A day or two of buffer is ideal.
Let me know if you're using any prescription topicals on your back, like retinoids or acne medications. Some of those require us to skip certain steps or adjust the exfoliant strength.
Back facials vary in price depending on several factors.
Everyone wonders about price, and that's fair. The best way to get an honest answer is to call me directly. I'll give you a clear picture of what your skin needs and what it's going to cost before you book anything.
Extractions can be a little uncomfortable, especially if there's significant congestion. Most clients describe it as tolerable pressure, not pain. We work carefully, and the steam beforehand makes the process much gentler than squeezing at home.
For active breakouts or heavy congestion, once a month is a reasonable starting cadence. Once the skin clears up, spacing treatments to every six to eight weeks is usually enough to maintain results. I can give you a better answer once I see your skin in person.
A back facial addresses active congestion and texture. For dark spots or post-acne marks, we may want to layer in a chemical exfoliant or other targeted treatment. That's a conversation worth having before your appointment so we can plan the right approach.
Not at all. Men make up a growing share of my clients, and most of them say the same thing afterward: they wish they'd started sooner. Skin is skin. It needs care regardless of who you are.
Avoid heavy sweating for about 24 hours if you can. Skip the gym or wait until the next day. Keep the area moisturized, use a clean shirt, and apply SPF if any part of your back will be exposed to sun. Avoid picking at anything, even if extractions stirred things up a bit.
Yes, in many cases. Some clients add a face facial or a waxing service in the same visit. Just mention what you're thinking when you call, and I'll let you know what makes sense to combine and what's better spaced out.
If you've been putting this off, it's worth at least a conversation. Call me at (941) 354-9099 and I'll tell you honestly whether a back facial makes sense for what you're dealing with, and what to expect from a first visit.

Lynn is the founder and lead aesthetician at SASS SRQ Sarasota. Her approach: she listens before she recommends anything, and she'll tell you if something isn't worth your money.
Lynn has worked in aesthetics for over ten years and opened SASS SRQ downtown so clients could get focused, one-on-one skin care without the upsell pressure of a big salon.
She's trained in microneedling, chemical peels, and advanced waxing techniques, and she takes the time to explain what she's doing and why it fits your skin.
Before recommending anything, Lynn asks about your skin history, lifestyle, and what's bothering you most - then builds from there.
